I was asked to create an astronomy app for NASA that could be fun, engaging and educational. I researched various science related apps and learning apps. I wanted this app to target people who are passionate about astronomy, so they can develop their knowledge. I wanted it to look educational, sophisticated and modern.
I was asked to design a company profile for Lunaland that provides an overview of the amusement park's history and future endeavours. The client requested me to come up with a design that will convey the energy of their many attractions. The new company profile needed to be fun and sophisticated, with imagery that has lots of personality.
For this design, I wanted to capture the feeling and experience of being on rollercoasters. I also researched how colours can be used to connect with our emotions. The combination of shapes and colours represent the overall experience of the ride.
I was asked to help change the image of Hell's Angels through a campaign event. The Hell's Angels are a notorious biker gang and some of the image issues they currently face with include, racism and exclusivity. I thought an event that would allow the organisation to support a different culture could improve this problem. For my type lockup I combined English words and Chinese characters to symbolise the connection between the two cultures. The colours used for the design needed to be representative of Hell's Angels and Chinese New Year Festivals. Red is also links the two as is used in the Hell's Angels' logo, while red serves as a symbolic colour in Chinese culture and their flag.
When I was doing idea generation one of my key words was dramatic. This design is for a travel magazine that focuses on "unconventional travel destinations". We don't have a lot of access to information on North Korea, except for what we hear on the news. I wanted to flip the perception of society's image of the city and its government.
I was inspired by handmade and ornamented designs.
